Celadon Round Platform - Medium

This work embodies the beauty of traditional Korean Celadon in a contemporary minimalist form.

It has a rich smooth glaze in the highest quality jade-hued Celadon, with a lustrous gloss that gives striking reflections of flowers or leaves placed on top. 

Fully glazed on the underside too, this piece has a faint network of cracks in the glaze, and the colour graduates to a pale hue toward the edge.

Prized throughout history for its ultra-smooth jade-coloured glaze, Korean Celadon, or cheong-ja, represents a pinnacle of ceramic technique.  It has been produced in Korea since the 10th century.

Artist Choi Jin-Ho uses all natural materials and techniques refined over ten centuries to formulate his Celadon glaze. Its distinctive lustre embodies the passing down of this art form over generations.
