A generously rounded vessel with a rich black glaze.  Embodying the centuries-old tradition of Korean Black Ware, this minimalist work is perfect as a stand-alone sculpture or for displaying blooms or leaves.

There is a depth to the glaze, which has a slight gloss and a subtle texture.  The jar has a small spout and a slightly elongated shape at the lip rising from the circular foot.

Black Ware, with its distinctive iron black glaze, has been produced in Korea since the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392).  A smooth black glaze with a rich gloss was perfected during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897), while some Black Ware has a matte textured finish with subtle rust undertones.
