A minimalist container in traditional Korean Black Ware, this box has the distinctive rich black glaze of the centuries-old art form.
It was crafted from a rich dark brown clay which is visible inside the box and on the underside of the lid. The jet black glaze has a subtle stippled texture, and a slight gloss.
Lidded boxes are a traditional item of the Korean interior. They are used to hold anything from incense or a mini moss garden to nuts or traditional sweets. A simple and beautiful way to store, serve or display special things every day.

Black Ware, with its distinctive iron black glaze, has been produced in Korea since the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392). A smooth black glaze with a rich gloss was perfected during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897), while some Black Ware has a matte textured finish with subtle rust undertones.
