Celadon Round Lidded Box - Pale

A simple and elegant rounded form in the highest quality Korean Celadon, the pieces are fully glazed inside and out.

The colour of this work is a very pale blue-green, close to white at the sides and with a slight gradation to the jade hue at the base.  The glaze is very smooth with a lot of depth and a high gloss level, and very fine cracks visible below the surface.

Prized throughout history for its ultra-smooth jade-coloured glaze, Korean Celadon, or cheong-ja, represents a pinnacle of ceramic technique.  It has been produced in Korea since the 10th century.
