Pristine Korean White Porcelain in a minimalist design, this piece is subtly faceted with a simple flower motif inscribed on the top of the lid.
The faceting is gently rounded at the edges and hand-shaped so there are no perfectly straight lines or sharp angles. The artist's light touch when shaping the clay is embodied in the final work, and in this spontaneous expression lies the spirit of Korean art.
The box is glazed inside, but the inside of the lid is unglazed. Both the box and lid are fully glazed externally. There is a medium gloss to the transparent glaze, giving subtle reflections.

Korean White Porcelain, or Baekja, was the choice of royalty from the early Joseon era (1392-1897) for its high quality and simple elegance embodying the Confucian values of purity and modesty. It is still crafted today using the same centuries-old techniques.
